Acrylic Horse Painting ("Reconnect"): Step 1 Roughing In

I used to paint in acrylics a fair bit but left it to pursue watercolour...then left that to pursue quill pen & ink...then left that to pursue charcoal...then... You get the idea.
Actually I left off creating much while my four kids were youngsters, other than commissions. There just didn't seem to be the time to focus. The flip side of that is that when I start creating, I lose track of the world. It just disappears; me along with it. In fact this phenomenon cause me a fair bit of consternation and fear (late to pick up my kindergartner from school, dinner? what dinner?...things like that) so I stopped for a long time. Then it became really hard to start again.
But I digress.
Since I decided that my job title is now Artist In Residence, I've been working on two acrylic paintings, using the glazing method more commonly used with oil painting: glazes. This is a new adventure for me in acrylics and I hope this learning curve will translate into future oil painting endeavors.
The first one is using only three colours (red, yellow, blue), plus black and white. This has been an enthralling process.
The second I've only just begun but plan to use a wider range of colours.
I'll post updates as they come along.
Hope you enjoy seeing the process nearly as much as I've enjoyed the process!
