A Year in Review: 2017

It's been an interesting, productive, challenging year full of growth.

I was determined to set aside my fears and insecurities about many things. Using oils, using acrylics, working en plein air, painting large, painting small - you name it!

I think my biggest takeaway is this - summed up by my husband who watches me wrestle with the business side of being a working artist, as well as develop the confidence to paint and let my work be seen - Just Paint.

He wants me to pursue painting actively, to spend time in the studio (whether its my turret room studio on the main floor, the dining room table on our bedroom! lol), to push paint around, express and develop my own voice. He's wanted me to do this for many years. And now, I am.

And I am a little surprised and please at how far I've come, the roads I've travelled. I'm also honoured and delighted by the ways he defends my studio time. He makes dinners, does the shopping, sees to many details around our lives and that of our young adult kids. He's solid support, just when I need it the most. I'm so thankful.

I'm also so incredibly thankful for my new collectors as well as the people who have been investing in me and my work for years now. Thank you! Thank you! To know that my work has been giving you a voice for your own emotions, marking special occasions, becoming a part of your heart and home is an incredible honour!
